Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) is a flame retardant and smoke suppressant extensively used in various industries, especially inside the manufacturing of polymers and substances requiring fire-resistant residences.

- Chemical Structure: APP is a white, non-hygroscopic, and non-flammable crystalline powder. Its chemical formulation is (NH4)n+2PnO3n+1, indicating a series-like structure composed of ammonium and polyphosphate ions.
