2-Allyloxyethanol, also known as Ethylene glycol monoallyl ether(EDP), is a colorless transparent liquid, with weak characteristic odor, easy to miscible with water, long-term exposure to air will lead to weak oxidation.
Due to the hydroxyl and double bonds contained in the molecular formula, it is a new type of environmentally friendly polymeric monomer and intermediate. Because of 2-Allyloxyethanol‘s high boiling point and low odor, it is suitable for the synthesis of hydroxy-containing functional group resin copolymer and silicone modified intermediate. It can replace allyl alcohol and has excellent performance. It is mainly used in the production of fluorocarbon resin, super absorbent resin, unsaturated polyester, light curing paint, water soluble paint, paint and plastic additives, polyurethane foam stabilizer, battery and solid polymer electrolyte for chromium plating.
In the coatings industry, 2-Allyloxyethanol can be used as a solvent, mixed with resins and other additives, to help improve the fluidity and stability of coatings. It can also adjust the drying rate and viscosity of the paint, making the paint easier to operate and form a uniform film during construction. Allyloxyethanol is also able to provide good volatility, which helps the paint dry and cure quickly after construction, thus improving the construction efficiency of the paint and the quality of the coating.
Production Process of 2-Allyloxyethanol (Cas No. 111-45-5)
Usually synthesized by etherification, that is, ethylene glycol reacts with propylene to etherify ethylene glycol, and then ethylene glycol monoallyl ether is obtained. The reaction requires the use of a catalyst, usually ammonium nitrate. In the reaction, ethylene glycol and propylene are heated to 120-130℃, and ammonium nitrate catalyst is added at this temperature, after the reaction, Allyloxyethanol can be obtained.
